A town on the water, white sand swirling through blue channels, and a reef shaped like a heart. Weighing up Whitsundays tours from Airlie Beach? These are the places the day takes you.

The set opens in town. The welcome sign stands at dusk, and the Bicentennial Walkway runs on its boardwalk over the rocks of the foreshore. Out on Pioneer Bay the sun goes down behind the hills, and a yacht waits at anchor on still water.

Then the islands: Hill Inlet from the air and from its lookout, the long curve of Whitehaven Beach, sand spits and small beaches, and a helicopter parked on the sand. From a scenic flight, Heart Reef shows its shape among the coral. In the water there are turtles, snorkellers over the fringing reefs and jet skis resting in the shallows.

The set closes under sail and back on the mainland, at Cedar Creek Falls and a palm-lined beach.
